On Sunday, May 22, a young girl was hit by an SUV and she died on Friday, 27 May.
According to Sheridan Police, the accident happened on Sunday at 2.40 p.m. at the intersection of West Girard Avenue and South Zuni Street. It appears that a Ford Expedition was southbound on Zuni Street when the bicyclist, 11 year old Aundrea Plunkett-Pearson rode eastbound from Girard onto Zuni Street and was hit by the Expedition.
Denver Firefighters, and Denver Health Paramedics responded and the driver remained on the scene. It is thought that the driver tried to swerve and avoid the collision and the vehicle was impounded for inspection.
The victim was transported to The Denver Health Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and Aundrea suffered a stroke early Wednesday that left her brain dead and she was taken off life support Thursday.
