On Sunday there were two motorcycle crashes within an hour, leaving one dead and one seriously injured.
According to the Aurora Police Department, the first accident happened around 5 p.m. on East Iliff Avenue at South Blackhawk Street, when a motorcycle was traveling very fast eastbound on Iliff Avenue at the same time as a silver sedan was heading westbound and then made a left turn onto South Blackhawk Street southbound. The motorcycle crashed directly into the side of the sedan and the driver flew off the bike onto the street. Although he was wearing a helmet, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sedan was being driven by a woman and she and her three passengers were transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The Aurora Police Traffic Section are investigating and do not yet now if alcohol or drugs were a factor, but they believe excessive speed contributed to the crash.
Then at 6.30 p.m. there was another accident involving a motorcycle at East Iliff Avenue at South Xapary Street, when a 50 year old man on a motorcycle rear ended a car which was stationary in traffic. He was also thrown off the bike and taken to hospital with serious injuries.
At this time it is known he was not wearing a helmet and that alcohol impairment is suspected.
