On Thursday morning, October 20 a truck driver was killed by his own truck in Broomfield.
According to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at 6.15 a.m. on Highway 128 in Broomfield and they believe that the driver, a 35 year old man from Thornton pulled onto the shoulder of the highway near Eldorado Boulevard around 6:15 a.m. to check something with the rear driver’s side tires of his semi truck. It appears that he was between the axels of the truck when it started to roll forward and he was caught between the tires and axels. He was then dragged around 250 feet until the truck stopped.
He was found by a co-worker who was taking the same route who called 911. It then took emergency personnel around an hour to extricate him and he was flown to hospital where he died due to massive trauma to his lower body.
The accident is under investigation.
