The pilot of a small plane survived a terrible accident this week, as his aircraft crashed into a Denver area home.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration on May 5 at about 5:30 pm, a Piper PA-25 Pawnee was towing a banner over Northglenn, Colorado when it began to go down. Due to mechanical problems the pilot was forced to evacuate the plane and was able to safely parachute to the ground before the plane went down. The aircraft crashed into a home on the 11000 block of Livingston Street and burst into flames. According to witnesses, the pilot attempted to put out the fire with a garden hose. No one was hurt in the incident.
North Metro Fire District spokeswoman Sara Farris said that firefighters were able to eventually control and extinguish the blaze.
A similar plane crash occurred in Colorado in March. In that incident, a small aircraft crashed in Douglas County just yards away from homes in a local neighborhood.
