Seven Injured in Early Morning Accident

On Monday morning at around 2.30 a.m. seven people were injured when a sports utility vehicle ran a red light in Denver.

According to Lt. Robert Rock from the Denver police traffic investigation unit, a 1993 Ford Explorer was speeding as it traveled eastbound on Colfax and went straight over the light, crashing into a 2014 Ford Focus, driven by a 28 year old woman, which was going south on Speer.

The Explorer, being driven by a 23 year old woman, rolled over and the Focus smashed into a light pole.

Of the three people who remain hospitalized, two are in the intensive care unit.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing and police are looking for the driver of another vehicle which witnesses saw speeding along with the Explorer. Police do not think they were racing but believe there had been some sort of argument and say that they plan to charge the driver of the Explorer with vehicular assault once she comes out of the hospital.

They are also investigating to determine if alcohol was involved in the crash.
