Homeless Man was Actually British Citizen

According to news reports, a homeless man was hit by a pickup truck as he walked on Interstate 20 near Barstow early last Tuesday morning.

Denver Police say that Gary Patrick Pruett, aged 47, was about eight miles east of Barstow, walking eastbound on I 20, when a 2012 Dodge Ram hit him with the front right side of the truck just after midnight. Pruett was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

However, although Pruett appears to have been listed by the Department of Public Safety as ‘homeless’, he was actually a British citizen who was visiting his girlfriend in Denver and was on his way to the airport when the incident happened.

He was identified when his sister, Jacky Green, notified the authorities.

There were no witnesses apart from the driver of the Dodge and so no one knows why he was walking on the Interstate or any other details of the accident.

No charges have been filed.
