Fatal Crash on Highway 119 Could be Due to Alcohol and Speed

On Tuesday there was a fatal crash on Highway 119.

According to Colorado State Patrol, the accident happened at around 12.30 p.m. on Highway 119 Black Hawk. A 1997 Subaru Legacy was traveling northbound when it drifted off the right side of the road and then over corrected. It went on to hit a bank and started spinning into oncoming traffic, hitting a 2004 Honda Accord. The driver of the Subaru was a 63 year old man and he sustained fatal injuries. In the Accord were the driver, a 57 year old male from Arvada and he was taken to hospital with serious injuries. His female passenger was not injured.

Troopers said that all persons involved were wearing seatbelts and although the crash is still under investigation both speed and alcohol are under consideration as factors in the accident.

Highway 119 was closed for some time after the crash.
