On Tuesday, a teen was killed by a light rail train near the Colorado Station in southeast Denver.
According to Denver police and Regional Transportation District investigators, the accident happened shortly after noon on the southbound track in a tunnel that runs beneath South Colorado Boulevard, north of the station. The 14 year old boy from Arapahoe County had crossed over a no trespassing sign before he was hit by the train.
The train managed to stop about 200 feet past the end of the Colorado Station platform on the E Line route and at around 2.30 p.m. the body was eventually removed from the track.
The station remained closed until shortly before 4 p.m. when normal service resumed.
Investigators were trying to piece together what the victim was doing on the track and in the meantime an autopsy is being performed.
