A two vehicle accident on Friday has left a woman dead and another person seriously injured.
According to police in Commerce City, the crash happened at around 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Vasquez Boulevard and 60th Avenue. They say that the driver of one of the vehicles ran a red light and then hit another vehicle which was turning left on its side.
Both of the vehicles were sports utility vehicles and neither was carrying passengers. One of the drivers, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene and the other injured driver was taken to Denver Health Medical Center
Police have said that the investigation is in its initial stages and no additional details were available however, investigators say they are considering alcohol, drugs or both as factors in the crash.
The northbound lanes of U.S. 85 were shut down between 56th and 60th avenues until mid morning as the investigation was being carried out.
