Search for Hit and Run Vehicle

A pedestrian was killed in a fatal hit and run accident on Thursday night.

According to Boulder police, they are trying to discover whether an RTD bus was involved in the incident which happened near the south exit of the RTD transit center, in the 1400 block of Walnut Street, near Canyon Boulevard just before 9 p.m.

A bystander discovered a 62 year old man, lying part way in the street near the exit and contacted an RTD employee who then called 911.

Paramedics performed CPR on the victim, but to no avail, and he was pronounced dead. So far his identity is not known.

In the meantime, RTD suspended a driver while they are carrying out an investigation although it is not yet known if that driver was involved in the incident.

Police still do not know whether an RTD bus was involved although a bus does leave that terminal at 9 p.m. regularly. They called the operator of that particular bus, who returned to the scene and was released following questioning.

The police hope that someone who was in the area may have seen something to assist with the investigation as unfortunately RTD has no surveillance footage of the incident.
