Nick Knapik from Albuquerque, New Mexico hit a deer at 65 miles per hour while riding his motorcycle, and lived to tell the tale.
Knapik was riding on a highway near Pagosa Springs in Colorado on Sunday morning when a buck leaped onto the highway right in front of him.
Knapik was unable to avoid the deer and crashed straight into him with his motorcycle. He flew off his bike and the deer flipped over and landed on the highway where he continued to roll down the road.
Knapik then tumbled for 30 to 60 feet along the concrete highway. His Yamaha sport touring bike was totaled and the deer died. Miraculously however, Knapik suffered only a cut to the little finger of his left hand and some bruises on his side. However, his helmet had a large cut in it so had he not been wearing a helmet; it is likely he would not have survived. He was also wearing riding gloves and pants, along with a padded winter jacket which also saved further injuries.
